Capture Audio Video from Desktop Webcam and Stream it

Posted on 14:48 by Unknown

Capture Audio & Video From Desktop Or Webcam & Stream It To Another PC

We cover a lot of screenshot and screencast utilities here to help you capture and share your on-screen activity with others. Most screencast tools are limited in the sense that they only allow you to capture the screen video, and you have to use other software to record any audio over it. Today, we’re bringing you a screen recording application called Shoot Your Screen that allows you to capture video from your screen and webcam, as well as the audio feed from a built-in or external microphone. You can choose a specific screen region for capturing the video feed and stop the capture after required number of seconds. Moreover, the application allows you to stream the feed over the internet without using a third-party streaming tool.

A tool like this can come really handy when you want to add a narration to your screencast. Furthermore, for making videos that involve both on-screen and off-screen activity (such as a tutorial on installing firmware to your mobile device using both PC software and on-device operations, or simply your own video in parts where narration has the focus), the app eliminates the need to use different programs to capture the screencast and the video from your webcam. Its ability to directly stream the video online further eliminates the hassle of uploading the video yourself to another service or using another app for the purpose.
Despite its feature set, the main interface of the application is as distraction-free as it gets, with options to directly start or stop recording, show the saved files from previous recordings, and access the options screen. It’s the options screen that has most of the action, allowing you to select the video and audio devices that are to be used for recording the feeds, select a folder for saving the recorded files, specify a URL for streaming out the video, choose the duration for time-limited recording, and preview the recording with all the specified settings.
Long Beach Computer Service
The application allows you to change the video device to use as the source, letting you switch between screen recording and recording from any webcam attached to your computer.
Shoot Your Screen Video Source
In the same way, you can change the source for audio capture allowing you to choose between a built-in or external microphone, or virtual audio capturer to record application sounds.
Shoot Your Screen Audio Source
You can stream the recording in various resolutions, including the native resolution at which it was captured, VGA, SVGA, HD480, HD720 and HD1080, which is very impressive for a free app.
Shoot Your Screen Resolution
For screencast recordings, you will be able to specify the screen area for the recording when you hit the Start! button, using a transparent window that can be dragged around, resized or made full-screen. Once you have it set the way you want, just click in the center of the window to begin recording.
Shoot Your Screen Area Recording
The following screenshot displays the preview of webcam recording that makes this tool different from other screencast-only apps we’ve seen before.
Shoot Your Screen Webcam Recording
Shoot Your Screen works on both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows 7 and Windows 8.

Five portable antivirus and antimalware tools to carry with you at all times

Posted on 13:54 by Unknown

Five portable antivirus and antimalware tools to carry with you at all times

Five Apps

1. ClamWin Portable

ClamWin Portable is very much like its big brother: It’s free, open source, and does a great job of disinfecting machines. ClamWin has a very high detection rate, has frequently updated definitions, and has an easy to use graphical interface. The only caveat to using ClamWin is that it does not offer a real-time scanner - which is not an issue for a portable version. This is my go-to portable virus scanning software.

2. Sophos Anti Rootkit Portable

Sophos Anti Rootkit Portable is one of those tools you hope you never have to use; but you know, at some point, you will. Sophos is remarkably adept at locating root kits - especially for a portable app. Sophos: scans, detects and removes rootkits, is 100% free, supports Windows XP, Vista and 7, and works alongside your existing antivirus. I have found Sophos reliable enough to use even while the PC being scanned is in use.

3. Emsisoft Free Emergency Toolkit

Emsisoft Free Emergency Toolkit is a powerful malware removal tool that can scan for, and remove, over six million dangers to your PC. Emsisoft Free Emergency Toolkit has both a GUI and a command line version, so you can scan your machine even if there are problems with the GUI. With this toolkit, you not only get the malware scanner, you also get HiJackFree and BlitzBlank as well. Emsisoft offers the free download, or you can purchase a pre-compiled USB stick.

4. Vipre Rescue

Vipre Rescue is that tool you use when your machine is severely infected. Vipre is run in safe mode and does not depend upon a GUI tool for use. You double-click the executable and a command window opens with the scanner running (and running at blazing speeds). If you already use the full version of Vipre, you can still run this tool should your machine become so infected, Vipre will not run.

5. Spybot Search and Destroy Portable

Spybot Search and Destroy Portable is the portable version of the massively popular full Spybot Search and Destroy. This antimalware tool does a great job of finding and removing malicious software - all from your flash drive. Spybot has a unique feature that will help you backup your registry before you begin the scan. Should Spybot fubar your PCs registry, you have a backup to restore to - safe and sound.

Bottom line

You know that point is coming when you’ll require the assistance of portable antivirus and/or antimalware. It’s a shame that this is such a big part of our jobs, but it is inevitable. Make sure you are always armed with the tools to combat this plague by keeping a few of these portable apps along with you.

Fast Microsoft Windows Desktop Search Utlilities STEP By STEP

Posted on 08:34 by Unknown

Five fast Windows desktop search utilities

I am defining a desktop search utility as any utility that is used locally to help find specific data on either the desktop or on an on-premise server.

1: Copernic Desktop Search

Copernic Desktop Search (Figure A) is a free utility that has a clean and intuitive interface, although it is ad driven — and the ads can sometimes be a bit distracting. But my only real complaint about this software is that it doesn’t initially index your entire hard drive. You may have to go in and add some non-default folders for your data to be indexed properly. After you do so, however, the software works really well.

Figure A

Copernic Desktop Search

2: Auslogics Duplicate File Finder

Auslogics Duplicate File Finder (Figure B) is a free utility for searching your hard disk for duplicate files. The search engine does a really good job and it lets you opt to ignore things like file dates. The search engine can even peek inside files to locate ones that might be duplicates even though they have different names.

3: X1 Professional Client

X1 Professional Client (Figure C) is another desktop search engine that can find various types of files and email messages. While the functionality might seem routine, a few features help dental long beach justify the price tag.

Figure C

X1 Professional Client
For starters, the search engine is blazing fast. The search actually occurs as you type. Furthermore, you can use a variety of search commands to help narrow your search results. My personal favorite feature is the preview window that shows the currently selected item. Finally, X1 Professional Client has options to do things like copy, email, and zip selected items.
X1 Professional Client retails for $49.95, but a free 14-day trial is available.

4: Search and Replace 98

Search and Replace 98 (Figure D) is a bit different from other desktop search utilities, in that it can find and replace specified text in your files. It’s extremely useful when you need to make changes to a lot of documents.

Figure D

Search and Replace 98
I first found Search and Replace 98 many years ago when I was developing long beach compuer coupon a Web site. The site I was developing consisted of nearly 4,000 ASP files. As the site was approaching completion, my lawyer informed me that certain blocks of text that appeared on several pages had to be rephrased. I needed an editor that could perform a search and replace across multiple files so that I would not have to dig through all 4,000 files by hand. Search and Replace 98 did exactly what I needed it to do. I’m pretty sure that Search and Replace 98 used to be a commercial product, but today it is available for free.

5: Ava Find

Ava Find (Figure E) is a free utility for finding files, messages, and other resources on your computer. Ava Find is nearly 10 years old. In spite of its age, however, the software still works really well. It has a simple interface that lets you quickly find documents, messages, music, and videos simply by searching for them or by clicking the Music or Videos button.

Six Free Tools for Removing Malicious Software

Posted on 11:39 by Unknown
Malicious software (be it viruses, rootkits, Trojans, worms, or malware) is so prevalent, it seems one of the primary jobs for IT is to protect, clean, and remove it. Yet no matter how hard you try, or how much you pay for the software you use to protect your desktops, it always seems like a losing battle. Fighting a losing battle really hurts when you're spending a good deal of your IT budget (if you even have an IT budget) on software to protect machines from attacks.
It doesn’t have to be that way. I have found plenty of tools that can help in the quest to have a virus/malware-free environment. These tools can either be installed on your machines or used as a toolkit to carry with you to fight the good fight. You won’t find enterprise-grade tools here. What you will find are tools that have done the best job at keeping my systems clean.
1: Combofix
Combofix is my first line of defense when I suspect something has taken over a machine. But you shouldn’t just run this powerful tool without a few considerations. First, what will Combofix fix? After a successful run of Combofix, you should have cleaned (if applicable): malware, rootkits, Trojans, worms, and viruses. What you need to know about Combofix prior to running is quite important. The single most important issue with Combofix is that you can't run it with an antivirus tool enabled. With some antivirus solutions, you can simply disable the tool (Symantec Endpoint Protection is a perfect example.) I have found that one particular antivirus solution, AVG, requires complete removal before running Combofix. And to be on the safe side, I prefer to run Combofix with the computer in safe mode. One other note: Never download Combofix from any other site than Bleeping Computer or ForoSpyware.
2: CCleaner
Another free tool, CCleaner, does two things incredibly well: It cleans the Windows registry and removes cached Web data. There are a lot of registry cleaners available, but CCleaner is the one I always trust. As with any tool, you want to make sure you understand it before using it. Cleaning cached browser data is fairly harmless, but cleaning the registry is not. I highly recommend always backing up the registry when using Ccleaner to clean the registry. Fortunately CCleaner has a built-in tool for handling the backup.
3: Microsoft Security Essentials
After using many antivirus tools, the one that seems to work nearly as well as any other --without any attached cost -- is Microsoft Security Essentials. Not only will this antivirus tool help prevent infection, it does so with as little drain on the system as most other antivirus tools.
Six free tools for removing malicious software

4: Malwarebytes
People are always surprised to find out they need anti-spyware as well as antivirus protection. Of the anti-malware tools I have used, Malwarebytes seems to be the most effective. Now there are two versions of Malwarebytes: Free and Paid. The biggest difference is that the Paid version has a real-time scanner built in. The free version must be run manually. This is not a problem if you are in control of all the PC scanning or you can trust your users to manually run the software nightly (and to manually update the definitions often). If you can't trust your users to do that, you might need to drop the $24.95 for the licensed version.
5: Clonezilla
Clonezilla is free open source software (FOSS) that allows you to do bare metal backups and recoveries. There are two versions available: Clonezilla Live and Clonezilla SE (Server Edition). As the name implies, Clonezilla Live is a small, bootable live Linux distribution that allows you to do a single clone at a time. The Server Edition requires a DRBL server and allows you to do massive cloning. With the Server Edition, you can do large simultaneous restores quickly. Regardless of which tool you use, Clonezilla is a reliable tool for bare metal backups and restores.
6: Hamachi
Although not a tool that will help you clean up your systems, Hamachi enables you to add machines to a VPN without having the associated costs of a typical VPN. I have already covered this tool in my blog post Use Hamachi VPN on your Linux clients, so I will let you use that as a basis for installation and use. If you’re curious about how to use this as an admin tool, you can always house your toolkit on a machine connected to a Hamachi VPN and then access those tools from anywhere (so long as you can add Hamachi to the machine in question).
Final thoughts
There are many pieces of software available for the DIY user, which can make it a challenge to discern which ones are worth using. I hope the list above will help you narrow down the tools you need to keep around in your DIY toolkit. need Better Tech Support give us a call 562-366-4177 www.elitebuyer.com
