TypingMaster Pro Typing Tutor (Figure A) is one of the better typing tutorials on the market. It features a series of comprehensive lessons that collectively take several hours to complete. The software also tracks your progress and provides a number of statistics, even going so far as identifyiing the keys that are the most problematic for you. TypingMaster Pro Typing Tutor sells for $29.95.

2: Rapid Typing Tutor

Rapid Typing Tutor (Figure B) is a free utility that appears to be geared more toward beginners than experienced typists who want to increase their proficiency. It lacks many of the bells and whistles found in other typing tutorials, but it does offer a lesson editor you can use to create custom lessons.

3: Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing

Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing (Figure C) has been around for what seems like forever. I remember seeing an early version of this program on my uncle’s computer in the late 80s or very early 90s.

There isn’t a free trial of the current version of Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing, but Download.com offers a free trial of a slightly older version, which is good for getting a feel for how the software works. It is worth mentioning, however, that the download is about 400 MB in size. Although this might not be large by today’s standards, the download was painfully slow when I attempted it. In all, downloading and installing the trial took more than an hour to complete.
The software itself really isn’t bad. Like most of the other typing tutorials on the market, it offers classroom-style lessons, typing tests, and typing games. Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing is available as a Deluxe Edition ($19.99) and a Platinum Edition ($29.99)

4: Ten Thumbs Typing Tutor

Ten Thumbs Typing Tutor (Figure D) is a typing tutorial that is intended for beginners and advanced typists alike. Although the Viking theme might not appeal to everyone, it does help keep the otherwise monotonous typing lessons lighthearted and somewhat fun. In addition to the typing lessons, Ten Thumbs Typing Tutor offers a variety of typing games, and it can automatically create playlists from your iTunes account so that you can rock out while you’re working on your typing skills. Ten Thumbs Typing Tutor is free to use for 10 days, but the full version costs $25.95.

5: Bruce’s Unusual Typing Wizard

Bruce’s Unusual Typing Wizard (Figure E) is a fun and free typing tutorial, even if the interface does seem rather dated. (It works fine on Windows 7.) The program offers instructional text and then guides you through a series of typing lessons, all the while keeping track of your speed and accuracy. There is also a typing game where you have to repeat the letters that are displayed before they plummet to the bottom of the screen.

Five tools to help simplify social networking management

Takeaway: If your social media presence is becoming impossible to manage, one of these tools may help bring things under control.

Social networking has become an inevitability for businesses of all sizes. No matter what your product or service, you’re hurting yourself if you don’t have a social media presence. And as you grow, so do your social media needs. At some point, your social presence is going to become hard to manage using the standard interfaces. You will need newer and more powerful tools that are better suited for the task.
I found five low-cost (or free) tools that can help manage your social media presence. With these tools, you can handle various tasks (some offer more than others). But most important is the ability to keep track of your social accounts as well as your followers (and their mentions of you or your company/product).

1: SocialBro

SocialBro (Figure A) is available as a Google Chrome extension and as a desktop app. It allows you to get fairly fine-grained with the viewing of your Twitter accounts. SocialBro is one of my favorite tools, simply because it offers so much information and so many capabilities with Twitter. You can search users and keywords, create specific filters, find your best time to tweet, monitor hashtags, analyze competitors, and much more. You will have to create a SocialBro account (free) and then give the extension permission to access your Twitter data.

2: TweetDeck

TweetDeck (Figure B) is offered as a Google Chrome extension, a desktop client, and mobile clients (IOS and Android). All versions of the tool offer the same features. With TweetDeck, you can customize what you see (arranging your feeds to display the way you want), schedule tweets, monitor unlimited accounts, get notification alerts for new tweets, see media previews, handle list management, and much more.

3: GroupTweet

GroupTweet (Figure C) is a unique tool that allows multiple users to post on a single Twitter account. This can quickly ease the burden of managing a social presence on Twitter. Each user that is given permission to post is displayed in the group account — individual names can be enabled or disabled. You can have unlimited contributors to an account and any Twitter client can be used with GroupTweet. For $4.99 per month (for the Premium account), you gain extra features like Tweet moderation, scheduled tweets, prioritized tweets, and multiple hashtag designation.

4: HootSuite

HootSuite (Figure D) is an outstanding tool for monitoring your brand. From a single dashboard you can manage teams, get custom analytics, manage messages, manage multiple accounts (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Google+, and more), and get Facebook insights. There are two plans: Free and Pro ($9.99 per month). Check out the feature matrix to see which plan offers which feature. If you need more, there is also an Enterprise plan. 5: Seesmic

Seesmic (Figure E) is a handy tool that allows you to manage your Twitter and Facebook feeds. You can connect not only your main Facebook page but any fan page you manage. Say you have a main company page with fan pages for different services or departments. You can easily post to only those pages you want from a simple-to-use mobile or desktop client. Seesmic also allows for the scheduling of tweets and updates.

This is going to be an invaluable disaster recovery strategy for people who need to recover accidentally deleted or crashed data from within Windows 7. This recovery is possible even for data deleted from the recycle bin.

A. Delete any files from ‘Documents’.

To start with the process I am deleting two files as indicated in step 1 & 2. Just right click on the two files and click delete.

Just click yes in case it asks for confirmation.

B. Empty the Recylce Bin.

To make sure that the file also gets deleted form the recycle bin, I am deleting it from recycle bin also. On the desktop right click ‘Recycle Bin’ icon and click open.

As you can see the two deleted files, to remove them permanently just click ‘Empty the Recycle Bin’ button.

Just click ‘yes’ when it asks for the confirmation.

D. Now, open ‘My Documents’ folder

Those two files which I deleted or those which get accidentally deleted can be recovered from ‘My Documents’ folder.
To open that click ‘Start’, ‘All Progams’, followed by the user profile and finally ‘My Documents’ as shown from steps 1-4.

E. Next, open properties of ‘My Documents’.

Just right click in empty white space in the ‘My Documents’ window and select ‘Properties’ from the menu as shown.

F. Next, click ‘Previous Versions’ button.

Click ‘Previous Versions’ tab as shown in step 1; it’ll show all the versions of the ‘My documents’ folder. Now, to recover the files, we need to restore the latest version.
So click the latest verison of My Documents in step 2 followed by ‘Restore’ button in step 3.

Click ‘Restore’ button when you are asked for the action confirmation.

G. Check the files recovered.

After clicking ‘Restore’ in this previous step two files will get recovered as shown above.
